Some go on holiday for the sights, museums, beautiful views, entertainment, relaxing by the warm sea. And someone gets a thrill, particularly an opportunity to visit places associated with paranormal phenomena. And there are those who are ready to travel thousands of kilometres for such an opportunity. Some of them also come to France, where there are also places marked with the seal of the powers, the essence of which is not understood by man.

Church of Saint-Pierre in Incarville

One of the priests of this church was René Delamar, who died in 1948. According to his will, he was buried not far from the church, to which he had devoted a considerable part of his life. Two decades later, the locals are talking about an apparition that allegedly appears in the area, which is believed to be nothing more than the soul of the deceased priest, who did not rest for some reason. The attitude to this ghost is not unequivocal. Some people are scared of this ghost, while others believe it has the gift of healing.

Paris catacombs

Wandering around them – not for the faint-hearted. After all, the Parisian catacombs, in fact – a huge underground cemetery. Therefore, a walk through narrow tunnels, where people’s remains are still visible, is an activity for lovers with a very educated nerves.

Broceliand Forest (Pempo Forest)

There’s nothing supernatural happening in this forest in Brittany at the moment, but according to legends of the Knights of the Round Table and Merlin, it’s where the main events of the epic took place.

Incidentally, scholars believe that Merlin had a real-life prototype. True, …a woman – a certain nun banished from a monastery and trained as a sorcerer by the Druids.

Pont des Quatre-Canaux in Palava-les-Flaux

On May 20, 1981, four young people, two boys and two girls, were returning from a party in a car. They found a woman in her fifties, who was “voting” on the roadside. All the clothes on the woman were white. The woman was silent the whole way, and only just before one corner did she suddenly shout: “Pull over! Look, there’s a turn!” And then she got out of the car she was driving through a closed door.

Police, who were told about the incident by the frightened youths, put it down to the aftermath of a hectic party the company was returning from.

Mortemer Abbey

The Abbaye de Mortemer built in 1134 is not only a place of historic interest but locals say it’s haunted by the ghost of Matilda, a girl whose lover was murdered in 1759. Visitors are warned not to touch the ghost’s clothes if they see her. Otherwise, trouble is inevitable.

There is also talk of a wandering yellow-eyed wolf, the spirit of a local resident who was murdered in 1884.

Martinwast Castle

This castle is associated with the ghost of a certain Sophie – a girl who died there in a fire in 1944. There are stories of other ghosts, such as the ghost of a fisherman who comes out of the lake at night with his catch.
